Relief of Bulgaria is characterized by the wide variety. The average height above sea level is 470 m. Waters. The main rivers are Danube, Maritsa, Iskar, Struma, Yantra. Forests are mixed type - deciduous and junipers, there is steppe vegetation. In the country there are about 15 000 animal species. For the protection of plant and animal peace, there are created three national and nine natural parks, about ninety preserves (among them 17 biospheric). In Bulgaria there is a law about the protected territories.
Transport. The cross position of the country differentiated the presence of rail, motor, air and water transport. Railroad lines and highway intersect all land borders of Bulgaria.
